This is a SIXES rec league. Sixes lacrosse is an innovative and dynamic discipline of lacrosse that showcases fast-paced and high-scoring gameplay. As a variant of the traditional format, it features only six players on the field, creating an exciting and intense experience for both players and spectators. Sixes lacrosse has gained popularity in the last few years throughout the US and Internationally. It was featured in the 2022 World Games, the PLL Championship Series and will be the discipline at the center of lacrosse's return to the Olympics in 2028.

The LLL is provided to all Northeast Florida youth through a partnership of area lacrosse programs including Ponte Vedra Riptide, Jax Lax Beaches, Jax Lax City, Amelia Island, Fleming Island, NPAA Panthers and others. All NFYLL programs are invited to partner.

Welcome to the Lightning Lacrosse League, where fast-paced, exciting play meets fun and development for boys and girls of all skill levels. This fall, we’re playing in the Olympic-style Sixes format, a high-tempo, small-sided version of the game that’s quickly becoming the global standard for lacrosse.
🔥 What is Sixes Lacrosse?
Sixes is a modern, fast-paced version of lacrosse featuring 6 players per side (5 field players + 1 goalie). It promotes high scoring, constant movement, and quick transitions. This exciting format was featured in:
- The 2022 World Games
- The PLL Championship Series
- And it’s the format for lacrosse’s return to the Olympics in 2028

🧒 Age Divisions
- 14U: Birthdates between 9/1/2011 – 8/31/2013
- 12U: Birthdates between 9/1/2013 – 8/31/2015
- 10U: Birthdates between 9/1/2015 – 8/31/2017
- 8U: Born after 9/1/2017

⏰ Game Times
Games will be scheduled between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM
Each team receives a 30-minute practice immediately before their scheduled game.

$159 per player
🔄 Team Formation & Skill Balancing
To ensure fair and competitive play across all divisions, teams will be assigned randomly, with consideration given to the player’s skill level provided at registration.
NO friend or carpool requests will be accepted
Please be as honest as possible in evaluating your child’s lacrosse ability. Accurate input allows us to keep games competitive and enjoyable for everyone all season long.

Players must come equipped with:
- Lacrosse Stick
- Helmet
- Shoulder Pads/Chest Protector
- Arm Pads
- Gloves
- Mouthguard
- Protective Cup
📖 Gameplay Format & Rules
- Sixes Format: 1 Goalie + 5 Field Players
- No long poles or modified sticks
- 10-minute running quarters
- Central horn used for timing
- Faceoff starts each quarter
- No timeouts
- No shot clock, but fast play encouraged
- After a goal, goalies restart and scoring team must drop back
- Penalties: Player is subbed out, play resumes (no EMO/MDD)
- Standard 10v10 backup rule applies to all shots
- Paid officials and coaches, including support from JU Lacrosse staff

Welcome to Lightning Lacrosse League
LLL QUICK HIGHLIGHTS:
This is a SIXES FORMAT - GAMES ONLY league. There are no organized practices. There will be additional Skill Development Sessions offered each game day one hour prior to the start of your game.
EQUIPMENT:
Full Gear (Stick, Helmet, Arm Pads, Gloves, Chest Protector/Shoulder Pads, Mouth Guard, Protective Cup)
The LLL continues to improve! In a constant effort to improve the overall experience, we have made the following changes:
· Established league referees.
· Patton Park facilities (better parking, elevated field conditions, and clean bathrooms)
· Enhanced uniforms with new LLL logo
· Addition of 2 Point shot
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
· Game play format will be Sixes.
· Smaller Field Dimensions (60yrds x 35yrds)
· This is a FRIENDLY league. Players and Parents are asked to keep the intensity to a minimum.
· Players from all participating programs will be evenly divided onto teams by level of experience. Meaning your players will be on a team with players from Jax Lax Beach, Jax Lax City, Riptide, Panthers, etc..
· Players may request to be placed on a team with no more than 2 friends. We will do our best to accommodate all requests but cannot make any guarantees.
· You will be notified of your team roster and schedule NO LATER THAN September 6th at 5PM.
· No "Take-Out" Body Checks are allowed.
· No Long Poles or Modified Poles
· Paid Officials
· One Strike Policy on Fighting or Throwing a Punch
· Season will culminate in Championship games at each division.
· Skill Development Sessions will be offered through X10 Lacrosse one hour prior to the start of your game each Sunday. Included in registration fee.
